What will you be doing?

Reporting to the Senior Corporate Counsel – Financial Services, you’ll contribute to the financial services practice group within the Australian legal team and provide general financial services and regulatory advice across the business to support a variety of stakeholders and departments. You will:

  • identify and advise on the management of legal risk in relation to sales, marketing, distribution, product development, claims and dispute resolution 
  • draft and review financial services distribution agreements and a variety of corporate and commercial documentation
  • support  the execution of our corporate strategy by assisting with the development of new products and platforms
  • liaise with relevant regulators
  • support regulatory change initiatives that impact Allianz Partners Australia.



Duties and responsibilities:

  • Contributing to the financial services practice group within the Australian legal team and supporting the financial services and insurance aspects of Allianz Partners’ Australian business 
  • Providing legal support with respect to product development & implementation as well as underwriting agency management
  • On-boarding of new partners and providing legal support in response to sales tenders and contracts
  • Providing clear and succinct written and oral legal advice that is aligned with the strategic objectives of Allianz Partners Australia
  • Providing training on legal issues that are pertinent to the business
  • Build successful and effective relationships within the Australian business as well as within our global network.



What makes a successful Corporate Counsel?

  • You’ll be someone with a strong Financial Services background including regulated retail financial services or insurance experience
  • Strong people and business leadership skills and experience
  • Past experience with dealing with regulations and regulators 
  • You’ll be someone who is proactive, collaborative and resilient when required 
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills at all stakeholder levels
  • Able to apply rigorous process and logic to solve difficult problems and find effective solutions
  • You’ll be someone who can juggle conflicting or multiple priorities with the ability to know when to push back or when to prioritise based on risk/ impact/ importance
  • Minimum 3years+’ PQE
