Job Purpose/Role

 

Enterprise Architecture is the central architecture authority within Allianz Technology, the IT service provider for the Allianz Group.

 

Our responsibilities include defining guidelines and best practices, enabling strategic initiatives to find compliant and efficient solution architectures, reviewing solution architectures with strategic relevance, and fostering an active global architecture community. We work as a diverse, globally distributed virtual team and work with architects dispersed across the regions and functions of Allianz Technology. Working in a federated manner is both challenging and rewarding as goals are achieved through consistent communication, solid architectural foundations, and constructive collaboration between skilled individuals and teams with different cultures, different mindsets, and different ambitions; all working together to help make Allianz agile and efficient in its business operations.

 

Data Architecture

We're recruiting for an experienced and forward-thinking Enterprise Data Architect who can combine deep technical thought leadership with strong leadership skills to drive strategy and adoption of a variety of data solutions and data management capabilities. You would be working within the Enterprise Architecture area which is responsible for setting technical strategy for the Group and working closely with business and delivery teams to realise the strategy.

This role is not just about technical skills, the ability to command the respect of and provide leadership to stakeholders from across the organisation is critical. We expect you to be able to view challenges from many different perspectives and create and drive strategies and solutions that are not only technically sound, but also include regulatory, commercial, and organisational aspects when appropriate. We're looking for experienced enterprise architects who produce their own deliverables and can lead and mentor others without direct authority.
 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Proven background as a Data Architect with an understanding of the principles and practices of that role
  • Ability to balance strategy and vision with the operational realities and service demand
  • Relevant prior data architecture experience: Leading or being part of transformation in Data (e.g., move to advanced analytics/machine learning, data lake, data harmonization, cloud)
  • An understanding of data modelling and how that can help accelerate reuse of data and delivery of data consumption use cases
  • Experience with at least two of the following data management capabilities with knowledge of the rest
    • Data discovery
    • Metadata and lineage
    • Data quality
    • Data access and privacy
    • Data lifecycle management
  • Ensuring that IT initiatives and projects related to Data across the enterprise and region are aligned to the Enterprise Architecture given the different business needs, priorities, and affordability
  • Ensuring that Enterprise Architecture data initiatives and Group IT Strategy regarding Data are achieved, and milestones are met
  • Alignment and engagement with Heads of IT and Business across the enterprise and region given differing and sometimes conflicting views, priorities, and needs
  • Support the Enterprise Architecture Practice Lead in the development of the practice of Data Architecture across Allianz Technology.

 

 

Key Requirements/Skills/Experience

 

  • A sound business technologist with the ability to lead and educate team members, champion, and manage change, as well as communicate proactively with all stakeholders
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to work with stakeholders positively and sensitively
  • Sound decision-making skills
  • Highly effective planning and prioritization skills
  • The ability to lead cross-functional teams in defining architectural solutions Enterprise architecture management (COBIT, TOGAF, IT4IT)
  • Reviewing the data models of critical applications with other lead architects.
  • Knowledge of Insurance products, services, platforms, and components.
  • Hands on with ArchiMate modelling technique.
  • Significant experience in one or more of the following categories.
    • Data Warehousing
    • Data Vault 2.0 & Automation
    • Dimensional Modelling
    • Data Mesh/Decentralizing of Data based on domains
  • Familiar with designing cloud architecture applications (AWS/Azure).
  • Foundational understanding of Machine learning, Model deployment, streaming, microservices and APIs.
