Job Purpose

Junior application developer AS400 leads in the full software development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing.

Key responsabilities

He intervenes in the full software development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing and also has to be autonomous with good  capacity of adaptation

  • Support the application developers to become more versatile.
  • Provide guidance and support for team members.
  • Code instructions for computer programs/objects/components; configure packaged applications.
  • Document and implement programs according to installation standards, procedures and conventions.
  • Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review.
  • Produce detailed design documentation.
  • Ensure designs are in compliance with specifications.
  • Prepare and produce releases of software components.
  • Provide application level support and problem resolution to minimize the impact of application related service outages.
  • Perform the system setup and configuration.
  • Conduct preliminary estimates / Rough Order of Magnitude for the level of effort of new/change to application functionality.
  • Analyze and make recommendations for the need for system backup, security, restart/recovery, balancing & controls; recommend approaches for meeting such needs.
  • Analyze and document the requirements and approaches to data conversion and data modeling
  • Prepare and execute Unit Test plans and document results.
  • Prepare and execute System and Integration Test plans and document results.
  • Troubleshoot program code, related objects, and documentation in order to resolve application issues.

 

Profile/ requirements

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering and at least 2 years prior professional experience required.
  • Hands on experience in designing and developing applications using RPG, Synon, Cobol.
  • Object oriented analysis and design using common design patterns.
  • Excellent knowledge of Relational Databases (DB2, Oracle).
  • Excellent knowledge of Talend.
  • Experience with test-driven development.
  • Excellent language skills in English and French
