Job Purpose/Role
One of a limited number of most senior business development roles within the region, working closely with LOB Heads and Executive Leadership to formulate and execute large corporate client and broker distribution strategies within the North American region.

 

Key Responsibilities:


Identify key and growth accounts, build and implement Strategic Account Plans:

  • Act as a lead client representative, as well as primary interface between and among lines of business, Claims, Engineering and other Allianz Operating Entities
  • Develop balanced pipeline with target clients to fulfill profitability and growth targets
  • Act as thought leader and Influencer to Executive Management and peers
  • Engage and coordinate with Marketing to tailor specific business requirements for market presence and brand awareness

Spearhead Sales Culture across the organization:

  • Work with lines of business, Claims and Allianz risk consulting to develop and deliver appropriate training in line with Distributions sales culture
  • Communicate wins across the organization regionally and globally with a consistent process
  • Actively assist in career development of more junior colleagues both in distribution and across other functions

Proactively build long term relationships with managed clients:

  • Generate trust and credibility, with key people who impact the buying decision
  • Act as "first port of call", solution provider and trusted advisor for managed clients
  • Initiate remedial action where necessary, e.g. large claims and multinational solutions
  • Ensure data integrity for managed clients in Salesforce.com

Proactively build long term relationships with key broker partners:

  • Develop and grow relationships with AGCS key brokers at appropriate levels
  • Facilitate brokers' understanding of AGCS underwriting appetites and capabilities, as well as those of other Allianz operating entities
  • Contribute towards broker relationship mapping to increase AGCS profile and promote AGCS as preferred insurer amongst key broker partners

Develop and manage internal relationships:

  • Drive change and behavior across functions to deliver coordinated and seamless solutions to clients and brokers
  • Leverage AGCS executive network to solidify client relationships at the executive level
  • Collaborate with Industry Solution Directions to provide proactive and creative solutions for clients within target industries
  • Engage regularly across functions, including Global Distribution, Claims, Underwriting, Multinational and Allianz Risk Consulting to build relationships both for specific deal opportunities and to ensure a consistent approach to superior customer service.

 

Key Requirements/Skills/Experience:

  • Degree preferred, in e.g., Economics, Business Administration, Law
  • 5-10 years of experience in Underwriting, Distribution role or as a Broker
  • Professional qualification preferred, e.g. ACII (or equivalent) or progress towards
  • Successful track record of prospecting new clients in specialty insurance segment
  • Experience of working in international organization and overseas assignment or equivalent exposure to international insurance programs
  • Track record of leadership and influencing others without authority
  • Demonstrable experience of fostering long term, profitable relationships at senior level in broker and client organizations
  • Able to articulate the AGCS multi-line business offering and benefits
  • Experience with International Program Business
  • Ability to translate the clients' needs into risk solutions, and to develop compelling value propositions
  • Well-versed in both broker and client management. Knowledge of all Global Broker operations as well as National Broker partner structure and local operations.
  • Ability to persuade and motivate others to act, without executive authority
  • Ability to negotiate best position for AGCS and client, deal in contentious situations, managing conflicting priorities
  • Solid Communication & Presentation skills and the ability to express thoughts and messages clearly, verbally and in writing
  • Advance proficiency in both written and spoken English. Sell data, as well as company direction through improvised or prepared audience winning stories
