Summary of the Job

Proactively investigate, evaluate and negotiate resolution of assigned Liability (Mid-Corp and Corporate) claims in accordance with established best practices and assure claims are handled within granted autonomy limits. Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients as well as internal business partners. Provide efficient claims handling within team while working with third-party service providers in achieving economical results and to provide high quality service to all internal and external relationships.

 

Key Responsibilities

Investigation and Reserving of Claims

  • Investigate claims that involve non-complex liability issues on domestic and multinational claims
  • Evaluate and address coverage issues and determine appropriate reserving levels
  • Select and direct independent external service providers (e.g. Lawyers, Independent Adjusters, Experts)                                                            

 

Settlement

  • Negotiate and resolve non complex claims ensuring cost effective, service orientated solutions
  • Ensure claims are settled in accordance with settlement guidelines

 

Referrals and Compliance

  • Ensure all claims handled within authority limits, and in line with AGCS Claims complex procedures and guidelines
  • Refer cases outside of authority level, preparing referral documentation and materials as appropriate
  • Support establishment of claims management procedures on new business accounts in association with clients, brokers and loss adjusters

 

Market Management

  • Proactively support acqusition of new business and retention of existing business
  • Proactivley liaise with underwriters on market management initiatives
  • Attend industry functions

 

Relationship Management

  • Positively represent AGCS externally to the market and develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients, as well as other relevant stakeholders (e.g. third party adjusters)
  • Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in Claims handling process, e.g. Underwriting, Operations
  • Effectively report and present complex and contentious loss and claims information internally and externally

 

Claims Processing & Administration

  • Input and maintain accurate claims records for designated accounts, within appropriate AGCS Claims administration systems
  • Manage timely production of management information reports (e.g. monthly major claims movements) and proactively identify loss trends

 

Required Experience

  • Proven track record in handling Liability claims involving non-complex coverage and damage issues.            
  • Detailed understanding of claims handling process            
  • Demonstrate established relationships with brokers at peer level group and well established in local market            
  • In-depth understanding of regional/local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape            
  • Multi-lingual is a plus
  • Product and Coverages: Detailed understanding of Auto/Liability claims products, wordings, terms and conditions and coverages
  • Claim Handling: Solid knowledge of claim handling process from notification to settlement and recovery        
  • Reserving: A knowledge of reserving principles and practices
  • Negotiation Savvy: Ability to negotiate resolution with claimants and/or their lawyers
  • Writing Skills: Ability to effectively communicate in writing, including letters and email communications
  •  Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze non-complex data, from multiple sources, in detail; identify and resolve issues before they transpire
  • Negotiation and Conflict Management: Ability to negotiate best positions for AGCS and client, often in contentious situations, managing conflicting priorities of various parties
  • IT Skills: Use general office application tools, e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point
  • Communication & Presentation: Ability to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally. Ability to "sell" claim service abilities as a marketing tool  
  • Bachelor Degree
  • Insurance Industry Designation (preferred but not required)
