Claims Associate - MidCorp - Property Standard Claims

Role Purpose:

  • Adjusting MidCorp Property Standard claims under the Short Tail tower of AGCS. 
  • Proactively investigate, negotiate and resolve standard claims within the standard claims unit in O'Fallon. Responsible for in-house adjusting.
  • Ensure claims are handled within authority limits and in line with AGCS Claims Standards procedures and guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients, as well as internal business partners.
  • Provide efficient claims handling within team while working with third party services providers in achieving economical results and to provide a high quality service to all internal and external relationships. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate high volume claims that involve non complex issues on Property losses involving damage from wind, hail, fire, theft, vandalism, and other perils.
  • Evaluate and address coverage issues and determine appropriate reserving levels
  • Select and direct independent external service providers (e.g. Independent Adjusters, Experts)
  • Negotiate and resolve noncomplex claims ensuring cost effective, service orientated solutions
  • Ensure claims are settled in accordance with settlement guidelines
  • Drive effective subrogation processes
  • Ensure all claims handled within authority limits, and in line with AGCS Claims complex procedures and guidelines
  • Refer cases outside of authority level, preparing referral documentation and materials as appropriate
  • Support establishment of claims management procedures on new business accounts in association with clients, brokers and loss adjusters                                                                                       
  • Proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business
  • Proactively liaise with underwriters on market management initiatives
  • Attend industry functions.
  • Positively represent AGCS externally to the market
  • Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in Claims handling process, e.g. Underwriting, Operations
  • Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients, as well as other relevant stakeholders (e.g. third party adjusters)
  • Effectively report and present complex and contentious loss and claims information internally and externally

 

Required Skills:

  • College Degree
  • Insurance industry designations
  • 1-3 years of experience and a detailed understanding of the claims handling process from notification to settlement and recovery
  • Demonstrable, stablished relationships with brokers and well established within the local market
  • In-depth understanding of regional/local Mid-Corp/Property insurance markets and competitor landscape preferred.
  • Multi-lingual preferred
  • Detailed understanding of claims products, wordings terms and conditions and coverages
  • Knowledge of reserving principles and practices
  • Solid Analytical, negotiation and conflict management skills. 
  • Experience with general office application tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
