Senior Underwriter – Financial Lines
The role is within Allianz Corporate Risks Team, reporting to the Financial Lines Manager and is based in Allianz House, Elmpark, Merrion Road, Dublin 4.~crlf~~crlf~The purpose of the role is to underwrite Financial Lines business across the portfolio of products in Allianz, in accordance with underwriting guidelines and strategy. This is a very exciting opportunity for the successful applicant, to be involved in the continued growth of the Allianz Financial Lines team in the market. ~crlf~~crlf~He/she will be expected to underwrite and price new business and renewals, issue documentation, develop and foster relationships with key brokers and internal stakeholders and have responsibility for the logging and tracking of new business and renewals in line with agreed procedures.
Technical Responsibilities:~crlf~~crlf~• Underwriting of Financial Lines business within underwriting authority and in accordance with company strategy and guidelines~crlf~• Documenting and keeping files to a high standard~crlf~• Adherence to and familiarisation with all underwriting procedures and guidelines~crlf~• Logging and tracking of all New Business / Renewals~crlf~• Issuing of documentation in an accurate and timely fashion~crlf~• Conduct and assist in reviews of specific products / sectors on an ongoing basis~crlf~• Design and construct processes to assist in the smooth flow of business within the team and the documenting of same~crlf~• Identify and assess new business growth opportunities~crlf~• Involvement and personal responsibility as agreed in the execution of the Allianz financial lines plan~crlf~• Responsibility for monitoring and assessing any potential variances to plans from both a GWP and loss ratio perspective~crlf~• Understand all regulatory and compliance obligations. Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements as well as internal compliancy requirements.~crlf~• Actively participate in or lead projects and other initiatives as required~crlf~• Assist in monitoring portfolio performance and emerging trends and actively observe external developments that may impact on our business~crlf~• Provide input to Board of Management (BOM), Underwriting Policy Committee (UPC) and AGCS as required ~crlf~~crlf~Relationship Responsibilities:~crlf~~crlf~• Foster and leverage relationships with key brokers~crlf~• Develop and maintain strong working relationships within the team, other areas of the business and external stakeholders~crlf~• Ensure open and effective communication with your manager, within Financial Lines and between Financial Lines and other areas of the business ~crlf~• Convene and/or actively participate in meetings as appropriate ~crlf~~crlf~Process and Innovation Responsibilities:~crlf~~crlf~• Be proactive in identifying ways to improve processes and procedures to help make us more efficient and effective in what we do~crlf~~crlf~
Desirable Skills:~crlf~~crlf~• A minimum of 5 years financial lines underwriting experience~crlf~• Detailed knowledge of financial lines products~crlf~• A recognised insurance qualification (APA, CIP, ACII or FCII)~crlf~• Proven experience of dealing with broker relationships~crlf~• Demonstrable solid judgement~crlf~• Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills~crlf~• Commitment to continuous improvement of quality and efficiency ~crlf~• Ability to build strong relationships within your team and across other business areas ~crlf~• Self-motivated and willing to accept responsibility for what you do~crlf~~crlf~Essential Skills:~crlf~~crlf~• A relevant third level qualification ~crlf~• Experience in a similar financial lines underwriting role within the Irish market~crlf~• Previous experience in designing financial lines products would be preferable~crlf~• Involvement in project work within a corporate environment~crlf~• Familiarity with I/90 and tables~crlf~• Proven track record in terms of meeting challenging underwriting targets~crlf~• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word and Salesforce~crlf~• Evidence of having providing exceptional customer service in previous roles~crlf~~crlf~**This role is subject to Minimum Competency Code (“MCC”) as provided for by the Central Bank of Ireland.
