Sr. Reinsurance Accountant

This position reports into the Reinsurance Accounting & Administration function within the Controller’s Department. This individual will collaborate with Product Development, Profitability Management and External Reinsurers to implement new reinsurance agreements and administer and account for existing agreements.

Reinsurance Accounting & Administration:~crlf~- Responsible for the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations related to the Company’s reinsurance treaties in accordance with IFRS and Statutory accounting standards.~crlf~- Assists in implementation of reinsurance calculations within Reinsurance system~crlf~- Analyzes and ensures accuracy of reinsurance reporting out of Reinsurance system~crlf~- Participates in reinsurance working group tasked with implementation and ongoing administration of reinsurance agreements.~crlf~- Works with external reinsurers to answer inquiries and resolve issues.~crlf~- Assists in the preparation of complex standard and non-standard reports and analysis.~crlf~- Works with the team to find new methods of analyzing data and understanding results by working with others and understanding trends.~crlf~- Helps to identify process improvement opportunities and problem solves to implement efficiencies.~crlf~~crlf~Projects: ~crlf~- Active participant on key projects.~crlf~- Helps to identify problems and issues and develop creative solutions.~crlf~- Ability to handle multiple tasks related to the project and meet deadlines.~crlf~- Communicates effectively within the Project Team.~crlf~~crlf~Internal Control Environment:~crlf~- Understanding of the importance of internal controls to a top-tier financial team with adherence to the controls in place.~crlf~- Understanding of internal controls in place relevant to self and team including overall process documentation and testing as well as performing the control~crlf~- Helps to identify improvements to controls or need for future controls.~crlf~~crlf~Communication:~crlf~- Effective verbal and written communication skills.~crlf~- Action oriented. Ability to follow up on feedback to ensure positive outcomes.~crlf~- Ability to effectively communicate issues or progress within the team~crlf~

Minimum Requirements:~crlf~- 3-4 years experience required~crlf~- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field~crlf~~crlf~Preferred:~crlf~- 5 + years experience preferred: ~crlf~- Related functional or industry experience, ~crlf~- Knowledge of financial computer systems (e.g., Excel, SQL, Essbase, SAP)~crlf~
