  • Job Purpose/ Role

    This role will report directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer, and will be accountable for designing, developing and leading a team to meet the needs of the organization's diversity and inclusion strategy. In this capacity, the CDIO will lead the development, implementation and evolution of enterprise wide diversity and inclusion strategy, efforts, and communications to sustain and enhance a culture where all employees feel valued. Proactively recommends, develops and directs programs and activities designed to achieve Allianz Life’s diversity and inclusion vision and goals. The Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer (CDIO) will also have accountability for providing counsel and leadership to management while supporting and driving business strategic objectives by enabling the enterprise to leverage diversity as a strategic differentiator. The CDIO will partner closely with internal recruiting and learning, HR Business Partners, Allianz global diversity and inclusion leaders, and external partners to maintain best practices and drive consistency and alignment.

  • Key Responsibilities

    Diversity & Inclusion Strategy Development and Execution: ~crlf~• Provide vision, leadership, coordination and strategic planning for the design and implementation of an enterprise wide plan to drive diversity & inclusion throughout the organization that is employee focused~crlf~• Oversees the development, implementation, and monitoring of the appropriate infrastructure (department, council, employee resource groups) to ensure effective execution of diversity and inclusion strategies. ~crlf~• Work collaboratively across a complete matrix organization to execute Diversity & Inclusion strategy~crlf~• Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to increase workforce readiness, retention and engagement~crlf~• Partners with Human Resources and people leaders to attract, recruit, hire, engage, develop, and retain diverse talent consistent with the demographic composition relevant labor force benchmarks; assists in building pipelines of diverse talent as part of succession planning. ~crlf~• Influence organizational changes that drive behaviors required to leverage diversity & sustain an inclusive work environment~crlf~• Work in partnership with all Human Resource functions to ensure the appropriate systems, tools, processes and metrics are established in support of the Diversity & Inclusion strategy~crlf~• Demonstrates a strong understanding of the business and the financial services industries; connect D&I efforts to current and future business and people strategies~crlf~• Develops strategies to eliminate barriers to diversity, inclusion, and EEO. ~crlf~• Develops and recommends operating budgets within approved budget objectives. ~crlf~~crlf~Communication & Change Leadership:~crlf~• Champions Allianz Life’s efforts to achieve a diverse workforce and inclusive workplace. ~crlf~• Responsible for creating and executing clear and concise communications strategies to drive acceptance and advocacy of Diversity & Inclusion efforts~crlf~• Utilize influence to integrate Diversity & Inclusion into all areas of the organization~crlf~~crlf~ Cultivate Diversity & Inclusion Awareness and Cultural Competency through Clear, Concise Communications: • Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation across all Divisions within the organization~crlf~• This role will partner closely with Talent Management and HR Business Partners to ensure consistency and alignment of services provided~crlf~• Partner with Organization Effectiveness and Learning & Development to design and deliver diversity and inclusion training aligned with the diversity and inclusion strategy. ~crlf~• Develops and implements processes to track and monitor the return on investment of training and education. ~crlf~• Provides leadership and direction to evaluate the effectiveness of Allianz Life’s diversity and inclusion program and activities, as well as drive accountability at individual, team, and organization-wide levels. ~crlf~~crlf~External Diversity and Inclusion Leadership: ~crlf~• Accountable for Community Relations program including philanthropic partnerships, charitable contributions, and volunteerism. Provides leadership and oversight on all Community Relations efforts including maintaining external relationships with key community and philanthropic organizations that align with our business strategy, mission and values. Focuses on maximizing value of current programs and maintaining smooth execution of exisiting programs. Also, explores opportunities to create new community relation programming and/or approaches.~crlf~• Champions Allianz Life’s efforts to leverage diversity to succeed in the market by establishing a clear Diversity & Inclusion message that aligns with the overall Employmer Brand. ~crlf~• Publicly represents Allianz Life at the local, regional, and national level by maintaining strong internal and external relationships to advance diversity building partnerships in the markets we do business. ~crlf~• Establish and maintain ongoing relationships with peers and partners in key organizations and companies to benchmark and share best practices.~crlf~• Collaborates with leadership to apply a diversity and inclusion lens to marketplace activities such as procurement/supply chain, marketing, product development, distribution, business growth, and external communications. ~crlf~• Works with Allianz Life leaders to develop partnerships and other relationships with civic, community, and other organizations designed to promote diversity and inclusion.

  • Key Requirements/ Skills

    Minimum Requirements:~crlf~– 8-10 years experience required: Experience identifying, learning, facilitating and implementing best practices related to diversity, equity and inclusion required. Must have prior experience successfully managing and executing numerous priorities and multiple projects in a fast paced environment~crlf~– Four-year degree required: Organizational Development, Business, Human Resources, Marketing or related~crlf~– Requires 10+ years of management experience in a complex business environment with significant experience managing a matrixed staff, developing strategic plans, and executing system-wide strategies and programs. Progressively responsible leadership experience in EEO, diversity and inclusion, and/or human resources. ~crlf~Within the 10+ years, at least 5 years of experience with responsibility focused on diversity and inclusion program(s), such as D&I training, employee resource groups, diversity-focused recruiting, affirmative action program, etc. ~crlf~~crlf~~crlf~Preferred:~crlf~– 11+ years experience preferred: Working in a global organization, interfacing directly with executive leadership, developing and utilizing metrics to plan and make decisions~crlf~– Advanced degree preferred: Organizational Development, Business, Human Resources, Marketing or related
