Software Developer in Test

  • Job Purpose/ Role

    As Software Developer in Test you will work within a newly established build, test and release (BTR) team to develop maintain and run automated tests and to drive our move to full test automation and continuous delivery. ~crlf~~crlf~In this role you will work closely with application development engineers to minimise the test cycle and to design and maintain deployments to various test environments and production.

  • Key Responsibilities

    • Design and develop automated tests to speed up testing and minimise test cycle, in collaboration with project stakeholders and the application development team.~crlf~• Develop effective re-usable test cases based on organisation’s testing framework.~crlf~• Collaborate with the application developers to map out the most effective way of testing, including regression cases and validation of new functionality.~crlf~• Guide application developers in developing and debugging automated tests.~crlf~• Complete exploratory tests occasionally and work with users and application developers to address any issues.~crlf~• Work with application developers to investigate problems identified by tests and help with validation of the fixes applied.~crlf~• Share knowledge with the application development team, improve processes and tools and support management of codebase from development to production.

  • Key Requirements/ Skills

    Essential Experience~crlf~• 4+ years’ experience in test automation.~crlf~• Experience with any of the test automation frameworks/tools like Visual Studio Testing Framework, MSTest, Selenium WebDriver, HP QTP (Micro Focus UFT).~crlf~• Experience with programming language like C#/VB/JavaScript.~crlf~• Experience with test management tool like jira-xray, zephyr for jira or similar tool/add-on.~crlf~• Experience with Test runner like SpecFlow + Runner (formerly “SpecRun”) or similar tool.~crlf~• Experience in testing Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) or Test Driven Development approach (TDD).~crlf~• Consistent record in working with modern principles relating to code quality, release management, auto testing tools and techniques, version management and change control.~crlf~• Demonstrated knowledge of agile testing principles.~crlf~~crlf~Desirable Experience ~crlf~• Prior experience or working knowledge of build pipeline using TFS and PowerShell scripting.~crlf~• ISTQB qualification/certification. ~crlf~• Prior experience in hybrid Waterfall / Agile enterprise environments.~crlf~• Working knowledge in Insurance / Financial services or other heavily regulated domains.~crlf~• A track record of collaborating and working effectively with business partners.
