Underwriting Specialist Financial Lines (MLC)

Support Underwriting Strategy~crlf~##Participate in the development and execution of regional Underwriting strategy for LoB(s)~crlf~##Work closely with Market Management, Claims and other product lines to achieve key marketing strategies, including cross- selling~crlf~Market Management~crlf~##Proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and producer negotiations where necessary)~crlf~##Proactively liaise with MMC on market management initiatives~crlf~Underwrite Profitable Business~crlf~##Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom line targets ~crlf~##Negotiate price and terms and conditions with producers~crlf~##Proactively manage capacity ~crlf~Underwriting Approach and Compliance~crlf~##Underwrite within line with LoB governance framework - e.g. Underwriting Authorities, global MSU, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules and Principles ~crlf~##Ensure contract certainty is achieved on all accounts at time of inception~crlf~##Ensure utilization of global pricing tools~crlf~##Ensure placing and binding of FAC Reinsurance prior to policy inception~crlf~Policy Documentation and Administration~crlf~##Ensure accurate policy documentation issued to producers (where AGCS responsibility to do so) or producers has issued documentation (where producer responsibility)~crlf~##File maintenance – ensure file is established (whether electronic or paper) and maintained for each risk and transaction handled~crlf~##Proactively support completion of policy administration and credit control processes~crlf~Relationship Management~crlf~##Positively represent AGCS externally to the market~crlf~##Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in Underwriting process, including e.g. MMC, ARC, Claims, Operations~crlf~##Develop and maintain strong relationships with key producers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. risk managers)~crlf~Support Key Business Initiatives/Misc.~crlf~##Generate new producer relationships~crlf~##Participate / contribute to key projects~crlf~##Participate in cross regional activities as required / requested~crlf~~crlf~
##Bachelor Degree: Preferably Degree in Economics, Law, or other appropriate discipline~crlf~##Minimum 5 to 7 years: Proven track record in underwriting profitable business in LoB ~crlf~##In depth understanding of LoB(s) products and portfolio~crlf~##In depth understanding of regional / local LoB (s) insurance markets and competitor landscape~crlf~##Demonstrable, established relationships with brokers at peer group level and well established within local market~crlf~##Good understanding of legal and regulatory framework~crlf~##Risk Assessment and Management: Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to LoB~crlf~##Portfolio Management: Manage the underwriting books, monitor appropriate investments and allocate funds accordingly; Analyze trends and scenario plans from which portfolio strategies can be developed and implemented.~crlf~##Pricing: Analyze current performance against various benchmarks with a view to ensure adequate progress and satisfactory performance ~crlf~##Contract Drafting and Interpretation: Design, develop and implement consistent, robust wordings~crlf~##Market Management: Apply the knowledge of how the market operates and functions, the business needs and customer needs~crlf~##Intermediate Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze highly complex data, from multiple sources, in detail; identify and resolve issues before they transpire~crlf~##Intermediate Influencing skills: Ability to persuade and motivate others to act, without executive authority~crlf~~crlf~
