Regional Practice Group Leader – National Accounts Liability – New York

The role of the Regional Practice Group Leader (RPGL) is to transfer global Lob strategy into regional Practice Group (PG) strategy for National Accounts. The position is also responsible for leading the Industry Practice Group 2. The position is accountable for setting pricing, coverage and underwriting appetite, as well as partnering with distribution and field underwriting teams to develop capabilities needed to profitably grow market share throughout the region (US and Canada). The successful candidate will formulate and implement business strategies through increased analysis and focus on competitor behaviors, marketplace dynamics, pricing segmentation and income analysis. This role is also responsible for guiding individual account underwriting and the handling of underwriting referrals for accounts which exceed field underwriting authority.

##Significant input to existing National Accounts Liability strategy and/or developing new strategy.~crlf~##Act as the highest level subject matter expert for National Accounts Liability and contribute to strategic decisions globally.~crlf~##Lead own sub-LoB and/or develop entirely new products/solutions for clients.~crlf~##In-depth knowledge of National Account Liability, allowing for developing unique/special wordings.~crlf~##Underwrite large complex new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom line targets.~crlf~##Actively negotiate complex pricing, as well as terms and conditions, with brokers.~crlf~##Proactively manage capacity.~crlf~##Make proposals to actuaries for reserve setting.~crlf~##Underwrite in line with National Accounts Liability governance framework (e.g., Underwriting Authorities, global MSU, Underwriting Guidelines, and Rules and Principles).~crlf~##Negotiate reinsurance concepts, including treaty reinsurance, within area of responsibility.~crlf~##Propose optimal portfolio structure and anticipate portfolio development trends.~crlf~##Ensure accurate policy documentation issued to broker (where AGCS responsibility to do so) or broker has issued documentation (where broker responsibility).~crlf~##Ensure file is established (whether electronic or paper) and maintained for each risk and transaction handled.~crlf~##Proactively support completion of policy administration and credit control processes.~crlf~##Proactively drive and lead acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (client and broker negotiations where necessary).~crlf~##Proactively liaise with MM on market management initiatives.~crlf~##Act as the top expert and thought-leader for National Accounts Liability globally. ~crlf~##Mentor expert/senior underwriters and share best practice.~crlf~##Manage referrals from senior/expert underwriters and re-underwrite complex business as appropriate.~crlf~##Recognized externally as an expert leader in National Accounts Liability market segment.~crlf~##Positively represent AGCS externally to the market, including very large clients.~crlf~##Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in the Underwriting process, including MMC, ARC, Claims, and Operations.~crlf~##Develop and maintain strong relationships with critical brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g., risk managers).~crlf~~crlf~

##Significant experience in underwriting profitable National Accounts Liability business;~crlf~##Significant experience in day-to-day management of a team of underwriters;~crlf~##Expert understanding of entire Liability products and portfolio (and/or the portfolios of multiple LoBs);~crlf~##Well-recognized, established relationships with brokers and clients as the key subject matter expert;~crlf~##Highly visible within the market;~crlf~##Expert understanding of global National Accounts Liability insurance markets and competitor landscape;~crlf~##Expert understanding of legal and regulatory framework;~crlf~##Significant experience working in complex, global matrix organization;~crlf~##Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to National Accounts Liability;~crlf~##Ability to analyze current performance against benchmarks, applying how the market operates and functions, the business needs and customer needs;~crlf~##Design, develop and implement consistent, robust contract wordings;~crlf~##Robust understanding of policy administration life cycle, information collection, policy issuance, premium bookings, credit control, and cancellation;~crlf~##Ability to clearly and effectively express ideas and messages both verbally and in writing;~crlf~##Ability to persuade and motivate others to act without executive authority;~crlf~##Ability to effectively absorb information from various sources, then analyze, study or examine data in detail, and draw appropriate conclusions; ~crlf~##Degree in Economics, Law, or other appropriate discipline preferred; and~crlf~##Completion of professional insurance qualification (e.g., CII) preferred.~crlf~~crlf~
