  • Key Responsibilities

    Investigation and Reserving of Claims~crlf~##Direct investigation of multi faceted, high exposure domestic and international claims that involve complex issues and/or litigation, in loss ranges excess of one million USD~crlf~##Act as first responder on Catastrophe claims to assess damage areas, potential exposures to AGCS business and provide guidance to insureds to identify ways to mitigate losses~crlf~##Proactively evaluate and address coverage issues and determine appropriate reserving levels~crlf~Settlement~crlf~##Negotiate and resolve high exposure, complex claims ensuring cost effective, service orientated solutions~crlf~##Manage external counsel in performing coverage analysis and resolution strategies, including development and implementation of defense strategies on litigated claims~crlf~##Ensure unpursued claims are settled in accordance with settlement guidelines~crlf~##Drive effective subrogation processes~crlf~Referrals and Compliance~crlf~##Ensure all claims handled within authority limits, and in line with AGCS Claims complex procedures and guidelines~crlf~##Refer cases outside of authority level, preparing referral documentation and materials as appropriate~crlf~##Support establishment of claims management procedures on new business accounts in association with clients, brokers and loss adjusters~crlf~##Undertake audits of external service providers as appropriate~crlf~Claims Strategy and Leadership~crlf~##Support development claims LoB strategy to ensure profitable growth and a strong market position~crlf~##Proactively produce effective data and analyses to support complex decision making~crlf~##Drive excellence in claims handling service provided to brokers, clients and internal customers~crlf~##Lead and manage Claims team or deputize for LoB Manager~crlf~##Manage cost center budget within plan~crlf~Market Management~crlf~##Proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and broker negotiations where necessary)~crlf~##Proactively liaise with MMC on market management initiatives~crlf~##Proactively manage selected Allianz accounts, cross LoB~crlf~Relationship Management~crlf~##Positively represent AGCS externally to the market~crlf~##Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in Claims handling process, e.g. Underwriting, MMC, ARC, Operations~crlf~##Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. third party adjusters)~crlf~##Significant travel to loss locations to appraise the damage, and likewise to collaborate with public and private officials relative to the remedial services required

  • Key Requirements/ Skills

    ##Bachelor’s Degree: Preferably a degree in Economics, Law, or other appropriate discipline~crlf~##Trade Qualification: Completion of professional insurance qualification (e.g. CII)~crlf~##Minimum 11+ years: Specialized understanding of LoB products and portfolio with technical specialist knowledge; management of systems~crlf~##Minimum 11+ years: Specialized understanding of regional / local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape~crlf~##Minimum 11+ years: Well recognized relationship building with brokers at peer group level ~crlf~##Minimum 11+ years: Good understanding of legal and regulatory framework~crlf~##Minimum 11+ years: Experience in working in complex, global matrix organization~crlf~##Products and Coverages: understanding in relevant products, wordings, terms and conditions and coverages ~crlf~##Claims Handling: knowledge of claims handling process from notification to settlement and recovery~crlf~##Reserving, reinsurance and coinsurance: knowledge of reserving principles and practices; robust understanding of coinsurance and reinsurance and application~crlf~##Litigation: understanding of relevant legal processes and procedures, litigation management, litigation avoidance techniques (e.g. mediation)~crlf~##Expert communication skills: Clearly and effectively express ideas and messages via speech or writing~crlf~##Advanced negotiation and conflict management: Ability to negotiate best position for AGCS, and client, often in contentious situations, managing conflicting priorities of various parties
