    The Communications Specialist is a generalist communications role, supporting primarily North America internal communications and secondary support for media relations activities. Working with the Internal Communications Director and the Media Relations Director, the Communications Specialist is responsible for spearheading and coordinating a broad spectrum of internal, press, social media and external activities to protect, promote and enhance the reputation of AGCS (and Allianz) by executing on activities, tasks and projects across the region, in alignment with Global Communications.

  • Key Responsibilities

    ##Oversight and active management of North America Connect, the AGCS regional intranet platform. Proactively and creatively develop campaigns and promotions to evolve the look and functionality of the Connect site. Encourage participation, educate colleagues and drive enhanced usage metrics. ~crlf~##Develop and distribute to employees a continuous flow and wide spectrum of content and media aimed at engaging, informing and inspiring North American employees. Create e-newsletters, business articles, success stories, human interest profiles, case studies and more to create sustained awareness and understanding.~crlf~##Own and maintain employee distribution lists. Lead the generation of all-employee email distributions, meeting invites and more.~crlf~##Build a shared community of internal stakeholders who serve as communications ambassadors and promote activity within their respective lines of business and locations. Introduce new opportunities to spotlight our people, progress and strategy. ~crlf~##Work closely with global colleagues to align North America Connect and internal communications strategies with overarching AGCS initiatives in other regions.~crlf~Secondary responsibilities may include:~crlf~## Announcements: Draft and distribute press releases and pitch letters as needed to engage standard and new press contacts. Proofread documents. Post press releases in online press room; draft and post related material for social channels ~crlf~## Social Media & Digital Support: Spearhead podcast production with executives in coordination with editorial colleagues; pursue onsite/live event recordings when appropriate. Promote podcasts via social media and internal channels. Support social media priorities of Media Relations (and Marketing) colleagues, especially to promote editorial coverage, executive event visibility, thought leadership and annual milestones/holidays~crlf~## Team Support & Engagement: Handle ad hoc requests originating from both domestic and global colleagues and support PR Agency campaigns as needed. Cross LoB and global coordination a must, especially for offsite workshops. Serve as point person on local CSR initiatives. Schedule and coordinate media training logistics~crlf~## Media Monitoring and Reporting: Actively monitor for press coverage - across topics and LoBs. Create clip reports and other executive presentations on both regular and as needed basis~crlf~##Media Management & Engagement: Establish and nurture relationships with internal network and established press contacts through proactive and reactive pitching, pursuit of relevant ed cal opps, seizing relevant current headlines/"news of the day" and announcement creation and/or distribution. Identify new press contacts on ongoing basis. Support a broad range of internal communications activities

  • Key Requirements/ Skills

    ##Bachelor Degree in Communications, Journalism or liberal arts.~crlf~## Basic proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud applications needed, as are proven strengths in graphic design, video editing, web development and photography.~crlf~##Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on media relations and/or corporate communications experience (in-house or agency)~crlf~##Minimum of 3-5 years of experience with traditional, online and social media, as well as website updates~crlf~## Strong written and oral communication skills. Confidence in building and maintaining social media initiatives and online communities. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the organization~crlf~## Great attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize tasks, juggle assignments and work unsupervised to deadlines in fast, changing environment~crlf~## Solid understanding of commercial insurance and more specifically AGCS products and services and how they fit in the marketplace~crlf~## Good knowledge and understanding of communication channels and how to leverage the media/press effectively~crlf~## Time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast changing environment~crlf~## Flexible team player willing to pitch in where needed and contribute to the success of an evolving company~crlf~## Computer and IT skills - Microsoft word/power point/excel, online content management tools such as Cision software, social media
