  • Job Purpose/ Role

    The Liability Claims Team Leader will:~crlf~##Lead and manage standard claims team and technical referral point for other Claims Handlers~crlf~##Handle all standard claims types, in both lead and following capacity, including complex Auto, General Liability, Construction Defect and/or Latent Injury claims, involving complex issues and/or litigation, within authority limits, and in line with AGCS Claims Standards procedures and guidelines~crlf~##Utilize third party service providers to achieve economical results and to provide a high quality service to all internal and external customers~crlf~##Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients~crlf~##Effective working within the global matrix

  • Key Responsibilities

    ##Lead and manage Claims team~crlf~##Manage cost center budget within plan~crlf~##Training, developing and coaching of less experienced staff ~crlf~##Manage technical referrals as appropriate~crlf~##Investigate standard claims, including coverage determination and evaluation of loss exposures~crlf~##Determine appropriate reserving levels~crlf~##Select and direct independent external service providers (e.g. Loss Adjusters)~crlf~##Proactively discuss and review contentious, large and complex claims with fellow adjusters and management to obtain opinions/feedback~crlf~##Negotiate to ensure efficient and competitive settlement~crlf~##Support subrogation processes~crlf~##Input and maintain accurate claims records for designated accounts, within appropriate AGC&S Claims administration systems ~crlf~##Proactively review late/non payment of premium and support credit control process with Underwriting / Accounts ~crlf~##Manage timely production of management information reports (e.g. monthly major claims movements) and proactively identify loss trends~crlf~##Refer cases outside of authority level, preparing referral documentation and materials as appropriate~crlf~##Support establishment of claims management procedures on new business accounts in association with clients, brokers and loss adjusters~crlf~##Undertake audits of external service providers as appropriate~crlf~##Proactively liaise with MMC on market management initiatives~crlf~##Positively represent AGCS externally to the market~crlf~##Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in Claims handling process, e.g. Underwriting, MMC, ARC, Operations~crlf~##Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. third party adjusters)

  • Key Requirements/ Skills

    ##Bachelor Degree: Preferably a degree in Economics, Law, or other appropriate discipline~crlf~##Trade Qualification: Completion of professional insurance qualification (e.g. CII)~crlf~##Minimum 5 to 7 years: Specialized understanding of Liability products and portfolio with technical specialist knowledge. ~crlf~##Minimum 5 to 7 years: Specialized understanding of regional / local Liability insurance markets and competitor landscape~crlf~##Minimum 5 to 7 years: Recognized relationship building with brokers at peer group level and well established within local market~crlf~##Minimum 5 to 7 years: Good understanding of legal and regulatory framework~crlf~##Minimum 5 to 7 years: Experience in working in global complex, matrix organization leading a team of professionals~crlf~##Specialized understanding of Construction Defect and Latent Injury Claims preferred~crlf~##Products and Coverages: Understanding in relevant products, wordings, terms and conditions and coverages ~crlf~##Claims Handling: Knowledge of claims handling process from notification to settlement and recovery~crlf~##Reserving, reinsurance and coinsurance: Knowledge of reserving principles and practices; robust understanding of coinsurance and reinsurance and application~crlf~##Litigation: Understanding of relevant legal processes and procedures, litigation management, litigation avoidance techniques (e.g. mediation)~crlf~##Advanced: Communication skills: Clearly and effectively express ideas and messages via speech or writing~crlf~##Advanced: Negotiation and conflict management: Ability to negotiate best position for AGCS, and client, often in contentious situations, managing conflicting priorities of various parties~crlf~##Advanced: Analytical Skills: Ability to effectively absorb information from various sources, then analyze, study or examine data in detail, and draw appropriate conclusions~crlf~##Managing people: Ability to lead and manage a team of underwriters.
