Sr. Accountant - Financial Reporting
This position exists to support timely and accurate deliverables of the team/division. This person assists in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements and analysis while facilitating a strong and effective internal control environment. This position will also take the lead on key projects and act as role model to others on the team.
Key Responsibilities:~crlf~Financial Reporting and Analysis: ~crlf~* Provides thorough analysis of financial results ~crlf~* Takes the lead on the preparation of financial statements, footnotes and supplemental disclosures on a Statutory basis ~crlf~* Ensures technical compliance with accounting guidance and other regulations ~crlf~* Works independently to resolve more complex inquiries, requests or issues~crlf~~crlf~Internal Control Environment: ~crlf~* Solid understanding of the importance of internal controls to a top-tier financial team with meticulous adherence to the controls in place including process documentation and testing ~crlf~* Recommends improvements to controls or need for future controls ~crlf~* Good understanding of interrelationship of controls with other areas~crlf~~crlf~Projects: ~crlf~* Acts as the lead or has significant role on increasingly complex issues or projects~crlf~* Identifies problems and issues and develops creative solutions~crlf~* Manages multiple tasks related to the project, establishes clear roles and responsibilities and keeps to a deadline~crlf~* Communicates effectively within the project team~crlf~~crlf~Leadership and communication: ~crlf~* Serves as role model to others ~crlf~* Demonstrates resilience and composure under stress ~crlf~* Works to motivate peers on the team ~crlf~* Strong understanding of mission and vision of team, department and company ~crlf~* Is recognized as a "go-to" resource for team ~crlf~* Beginning ability to anticipate breakdowns and how to minimize impact ~crlf~* Developing ability to make strong recommendations ~crlf~* Operates with a high level of motivation and sense of urgency; meets deadlines ~crlf~* Takes ownership for ensuring that work is performed with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness ~crlf~* Assists with fostering an environment of collaboration in pursuit of common goals ~crlf~* Takes charge when an opportunity presents itself at the team, and at times, department level; able to identify problems, issues and potential solutions~crlf~~crlf~~crlf~
Required:~crlf~- 2-3 years' experience ~crlf~- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field~crlf~~crlf~Preferred:~crlf~* 4-5 years experience preferred~crlf~* Public accounting experience ~crlf~* CPA designation or working towards one~crlf~* Solid understanding of: ~crlf~ - Statutory accounting guidance as well as internal controls~crlf~ - General ledger/financial reporting ~crlf~ - Company products, structure and staff~crlf~ - Insurance Industry~crlf~ - In depth understanding of all company computer systems, including Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Essbase, Wdesk, Wings and SAP~crlf~~crlf~
