Quality/Training Underwriting Lead

**Role is equivalent to Principal Underwriter Consultant level~crlf~~crlf~You will be technically strong in the aspect of Life Underwriting quality review and training and be able to adapt and pivot quickly when requested. You will work directly on the Underwriting Quality Risk Control and Training Team to monitor underwriter quality and provide training to support growth of new and experienced underwriters. You will assist with fulfilling the duties of the quality review program, working to lead and establish change; conduct reviews; report on trending; perform gap analysis, discovery, and mediation; and proactively suggest controls and improvements. You will also focus on training program development for both new hire and experienced hire underwriting training. You will support designing the programs, structure modules and schedules, and lead training.~crlf~~crlf~You will report to the Director of Quality Risk Controls and Training.

• Support our quality and underwriting training program working with the Director of Quality Risk Control.~crlf~• Be a technical underwriter with quality review/audit experience internally or for another carrier~crlf~• Have the ability and desire to pivot rapidly as underwriting department needs change and new guidance is provided by the Director of Quality Risk Control and Training~crlf~• Possess the desire to openly work with, collaborate openly, and support numerous departments within Allianz Life, including Actuary, Risk and Controls, Quality Assurance, Claims, New Business, and the Special Investigations Unit~crlf~• Help build and execute the new Allianz Life Underwriting Excellence training program~crlf~• Will work with underwriting leadership to provide continuous quality improvement to both existing training and quality programs~crlf~• Work through difficult cases by reviewing medical records, medical exams, financial documents, telephone interviews, and other underwriting requirements to determine proper risk class assessment following company guidelines~crlf~• Serve as a coach and mentor to other underwriters and Enterprise Operations employees.~crlf~• Serve as a role model to the Underwriting Department, demonstrating professionalism, encouraging the development of underwriting and new business staff, and providing leadership in the absence of the Director of Quality Risk Control and Training~crlf~• Continually recommend improvements to the internal Underwriting guidelines, operational procedures, and standards~crlf~• Willingly and engagingly participate on a variety of department projects as assigned, demonstrating strong, clear communication skills and an open-minded, partnership-oriented mindset~crlf~• Partner frequently and seamlessly with our Learning and Development Team to create and refine new training methodologies that address needs or gaps in underwriting staff performance or when launching a new product, rider, or program.~crlf~

Experience:~crlf~• 10 or more years of Life Underwriting experience required with direct carrier, brokerage (preferred) and/or reinsurance companies~crlf~• Business background work experience~crlf~• Providing/executing Life Underwriting training both in person and via webinar~crlf~• Performing Life Underwriting quality review/audits~crlf~~crlf~Education:~crlf~• Four-year degree required: Health care professional, finance/business, or science/technology/engineering/mathematics (STEM) fields of study or equivalent work experience~crlf~• Preferred: CLU, FALU, and/or FLMI achieved; acceptable FLMI with progress made towards achieving FALU or CLU designations~crlf~
