Executive Underwriter - Engineering - Chicago
##Underwrite profitable new and renewal business to meet Engineering targets regionally including global elements;~crlf~##Ownership of large accounts/clients, including negotiation of participation, pricing and terms and conditions;~crlf~##Train and develop team and referral point for underwriters;~crlf~##Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients;~crlf~##Specialized technical expertise/lead for at least one sub-LoB; and~crlf~##Work effectively within the global matrix.
##Underwrite large new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom line targets (regionally and/or globally). ~crlf~##Negotiate participation, pricing and terms and conditions with brokers. ~crlf~##Proactively manage capacity.~crlf~##Underwrite and evaluate Natural Catastrophe Accumulation, ensuring an understanding of catastrophe modelling and interpretation of scenarios for Engineering. ~crlf~##Underwrite International Insurance Programs for Engineering.~crlf~##Specialized technical expertise/lead for multiple sub-LoBs.~crlf~##Underwrite in line with Engineering governance framework (e.g., Underwriting Authorities, global MSU, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules and Principles).~crlf~##Ensure contract certainty is achieved on all accounts at time of inception.~crlf~##Ensure utilization of global pricing tools.~crlf~##Ensure placing and binding of FAC Reinsurance prior to policy inception.~crlf~##Ensure accurate policy documentation issued to broker (where AGCS responsibility to do so) or broker has issued documentation (where broker responsibility).~crlf~##Ensure file is established (whether electronic or paper) and maintained for each risk and transaction handled.~crlf~##Proactively support completion of policy administration and credit control processes.~crlf~##Contribute to development and execution of regional Underwriting strategy for Engineering regionally.~crlf~##Train, develop and coach experienced staff (including Senior Underwriters).~crlf~##Manage complex referrals from underwriters and spokes and re-underwrite complex business as appropriate.~crlf~##Delegate work as appropriate.~crlf~##Proactively drive acquisition of new business and retention of existing business for large/key clients (including client and broker negotiations where necessary).~crlf~##Proactively liaise with MMC on market management initiatives.~crlf~##Positively represent AGCS externally to the market with key brokers/distribution channels.~crlf~##Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in Underwriting process, including MMC, ARC, Claims, and Operations.~crlf~##Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g., risk managers).~crlf~~crlf~
##Bachelor Degree preferably in Economics, Finance, Insurance Management, Engineering/Technical or Business Administration; ~crlf~##Completion of professional insurance qualification (e.g., CII);~crlf~##Significant experience in Underwriting profitable Engineering business;~crlf~##Specialized expert understanding of multiple sub-LoB products and portfolio;~crlf~##Demonstrable, established relationships with brokers at peer group level and well established within market;~crlf~##Specialized understanding of regional/local Engineering insurance markets and competitor landscape, including global elements;~crlf~##Good understanding of legal and regulatory framework;~crlf~##Experience working in a complex, global matrix organization;~crlf~##Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to Engineering;~crlf~##Analyze current performance against benchmarks applying how the market operates and functions, the business needs and customer needs;~crlf~##Design, develop and implement consistent, robust wordings;~crlf~##Robust understanding of policy administration life cycle, information collection, policy issuance, premium bookings, credit control, cancellation;~crlf~##Ability to analyze highly complex data, from multiple sources, in detail; identify and resolve issues before they transpire;~crlf~##Ability to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally;~crlf~##Ability to "sell" an improvised or prepared audience winning story;~crlf~##Use general office application tools e.g. Power Point, Excel, and Word; and~crlf~##Ability to persuade and motivate others to act, without executive authority.~crlf~~crlf~
