Abdul, could you tell us about yourself?
Andrew joined Allianz in August 2019, shortly before the Covid-19 pandemic occurred.
“Employers all around the world were trying to figure out their way forward and how they should navigate this unchartered territory. The effort and work that went into setting everyone up to work from home was tremendous. I could see how Allianz put their people first, above all else. I appreciated that and found it reassuring,” shared Andrew.
Andrew is also enthusiastic about the Career Connections program - a development pathway that encourages employees to assess their own performance and put themselves forward for the next role when they themselves feel ready, regardless of a role being available at the time. This means employees aren’t waiting to develop until a new role arises.
Further, there was a sense of openness and inclusion that strengthened his feeling of belonging. There’s a genuine focus on inclusivity at Allianz says Andrew, which supports an employee’s development at work by offering a sense of belonging that other workplaces may not. “I feel a sense of belonging at work where I am free to express myself with my peers and our leadership team," explained Andrew.
Pride Month is celebrated with enthusiasm, featuring a range of events and initiatives that everyone can take part in - whether you identify as a member of the LGBT+ community or as an ally. Andrew says it’s the sense of belonging and ongoing support he feels at work that makes coming to work every day a joy.
