We are looking for a Legal Counsel reporting to the Directore for Legal & Compliance, based in Paris. 

Your Team 

This team ensures that all practices, policies and business activities of the French and other European (including Spanish) branches fall within the bounds of the relevant legal and regulatory requirements. The team members are very good technicians that also understand the business environment in which AGCS evolves. Last but not least, there is a strong team spirit and collaboration with other countries and regions. 

The Impact You Will Have 

You will enable to set up the overall philosophy and strategy of the company with respect to matters of insurance and supervisory law and ensure that all company practices, policies, and operations are in line with legal requirements. Your work will involve handling and solving strategically important projects with cross-border exposure and requires excellent legal knowledge and a pronounced affinity and willingness to deal with foreign laws and jurisdictions.  

Some of your specific responsibilities could include: 

• Providing legal advice and guidance on insurance-specific legal issues to local units of Allianz Commercial in France and Europe (especially Spain) on all lines of business (Aviation, Cyber, Entertainment, Financial Lines, Liability, Natural Resources & Construction, Marine and Property), Distribution and Multinational 

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating insurance and reinsurance contracts and legal documents in accordance with laws and regulations 

• Conducting legal research and analysis related to insurance law and industry best practices in France and in other European countries, including Spain 

• Collaborating with internal teams, including underwriting and claims departments, to address legal concerns and mitigate risks, considering the specific requirements of the large risk insurance market 

• Keeping abreast of legal developments and updates relevant to the insurance industry 

• Participate in the conception, planning and performance of training courses and information events 

• Oversee and steer external legal counsel, where applicable. 

What You’ll Bring to the Role 

• Completed studies in law 

• English: Business fluent 

• At least 3 years of professional experience in industrial insurance or a law firm, ideally with knowledge in the described areas of responsibility 

• Enjoy challenging legal work and negotiations 

• Ability to communicate complex legal issues and risks in an understandable way 

• Strong team-work skills and intercultural experience 

• Strong analytical and negotiation skills 

• Organized and process driven, with the ability to work independently 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
